Kid Galahad and James ‘Jazza’ Dickens finally have a home for their title fight.

The long-ago ordered featherweight clash will land atop the August 7 edition of Matchroom Fight Camp, airing live on DAZN from Matchroom Boxing headquarters in Brentwood, Essex. The vacant IBF featherweight title fight will be at stake for the bout, which was stuck in a holding pattern since the purse bid hearing held earlier this year.

“The all-British clash for the IBF Featherweight World Title between Kid Galahad and Jazza Dickens is set to be a cracker,” Eddie Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Boxing said of the anticipated title fight, which was announced as part of the summer Fight Camp series Monday. “I'm delighted to begin our game-changing partnership with the leading global sports streaming platform DAZN with another sizzling summer of Fight Camp action from our stunning HQ in Brentwood, Essex.

“Last year's lineup had it all – and this year's series is set to be even bigger and better with addition of fans.”

Sheffield’s Galahad (27-1, 16KOs) was previously due to challenge countryman Josh Warrington (30-1, 7KOs) in an ordered rematch, with the fight actually going to a purse bid hearing and won by TGB Promotions. Warrington instead vacated the title while pursuing a fight with WBA titlist Can Xu. Those plans went miserably awry as the previously unbeaten Brit suffered a stunning knockout loss to Mauricio Lara this past February.

Galahad suffered a disputed 12-round decision defeat in his June 2019 title bid versus Warrington, keen on avenging the loss ever since. He will instead have to settle a shot for the vacant belt, which belt became available in mid-January. Galahad was immediately ordered to enter negotiations with Liverpool’s Dickens (30-3, 11KOs), with the fight immediately sent to a purse bid hearing and secured by MTK Global as promoter Lee Eaton was the highest bidder.

Terms were subsequently worked out with Matchroom, though with a fight just waiting on a proper date.

Galahad enters his second career title fight, though on the heels of an 18-month inactive stretch. Just one fight followed his loss to Warrington, coming in an 8th round knockout of former interim titlist Claudio Marrero last February at home in Sheffield. The bout remains his sole ring appearance since Galahad’s previous title shot, with the subsequent coronavirus pandemic slowing his career progress as he’s set his sights on putting a title around his waist.

Dickens also enters his second career title fight, along with the opportunity to avenge a prior defeat. The 29-year old southpaw from Liverpool suffered a broken jaw in forcing a 2nd round stoppage versus then-unbeaten Guillermo Rigondeaux in their July 2016 lineal junior featherweight championship clash. Dickens then suffered a technical decision defeat to another unbeaten 122-pounder in Thomas Patrick Ward the following May, prompted a move up to featherweight where Dickens currently enjoys an eight-fight win streak including his taking top honors in the MTK Golden Contract featherweight tournament following a 10-round win over Ryan Walsh in the finals last December.

The lone other career defeat for Dickens  came at the hands of Galahad. The loss was his first, suffering a 10th round stoppage in their Sept. 2013 battle of unbeaten prospects in Rotherham, England.

Also on the card, heavyweight knockout artist Fabio Wardley (11-0, 10 KOs), Florian Marku (8-0-1, 6 KOs) fights Maxim Prodan (19-0-1, 15 KOs) for the IBF International welterweight title, Alen Babic (7-0, 7 KOs) looks to extend his KO streak against Mark Bennett (7-1, 1 KO), Ebanie Bridges (5-1, 2 KOs) returns to the UK to face Bec Connolly (3-9) over eight rounds, gifted Catford talent Ellie Scotney (2-0) looks to impress again, Romford Heavyweight Johnny Fisher (2-0, 2 KOs) goes for another knockout against Josh Sandland (5-3-1) and Oldham prospect Aqib Fiaz (6-0) fights for the first time in 2021.
