Mikkel Kessler recently sat down with Lionheart Boxing to discuss a variety of subjects, including his upcoming challenge for the WBO super middleweight title against champion Robert Stieglitz, the reason why a fight with IBF champ Lucian Bute fell apart, whether Glen Johnson stands a chance to beat Bute, and more. Kessler faces Stieglitz on November 5 in Copenhagen, and Bute returns on the same day in Canada against Johnson.

“I’d call Stieglitz an intelligent slugger. He’s a physical fighter who moves forward behind a good guard. I need to get my jab going and give him moderate pressure to break him down” Kessler says. “Stieglitz hides in another way than Buoadla, but when I look at his nose, he looks like he is hittable”.

Mikkel Kessler has noted that a lot of people has asked him to fight IBF champion Lucian Bute in Canada but says: - “The offers received from Bute was the same as him saying that he did not want to fight me. It would be the equivalent of us offering him one Danish krone to come to Denmark. I’d very much like to fight Bute, but it has to be reasonable”.

Kessler sees an upset in the upcoming fight between Bute and Glen Johnson: - "Everybody says that Bute wins easy, but I’d put my money on Johnson. He’s very difficult to box. He keeps on coming and is very difficult to hit with a clean shot. And then he’s got those sweeping hooks. They are dangerous. I think he can break Bute down."

Kessler sparred Johnson a few years ago so he knows a bit about the Jamaican fighter. He finds Johnson's style to be very difficult. If the Danish boxer had a choice, he would rather fight WBA champion Andre Ward instead of Johnson. Ward won a technical decision over Kessler in 2009.

“Personally I’d actually rather meet Ward than Johnson. Of course it’s a matter of styles, but Johnson has a style that I would have big difficulties with. I’d have to fight and fight and fight to keep him off of me”.

Kessler's trainer Jimmy Montoya arrived from California on Tuesday so the preparations for Stieglitz will begin right away.
