Kenshiro Teraji and Masamichi Yabuki are set to fight, even if two weeks later than originally anticipated.

Both boxers easily made weight ahead of their upcoming WBC junior flyweight title fight, which takes place Wednesday in Kyoto, Japan. Teraji tipped the scale at 107.4 pounds, while Yabuki weighed 107.6 pounds.

The bout comes twelve days after its originally scheduled September 10, which was scrapped after Teraji tested positive for Covid in late August. The long-reigning titlist was medically cleared earlier this month to proceed with the fight. According to our friends at AsianBoxing.info, Yabuki tested negative during his final pre-fight physical Monday.

Teraji (18-0, 10KOs) attempts the ninth defense of the WBC junior flyweight title he claimed in a twelve-round, majority decision over Mexico's Ganigan Lopez in May 2017. Their rematch one year later—almost to the day—was considerably less competitive, as Teraji stopped Lopez inside of two rounds.

The repeat win over Lopez is one of eight successful defenses recorded by Teraji, who was on a roll prior to the pandemic. The 29-year-old, locally-based champ has fought just once since then, a twelve-round decision over countryman Tetsuya Hisada this past April in Osaka. The bout came with a four-month delay from their originally scheduled date last December as Teraji was issued a three-month suspension by the Japanese Boxing Commission after crashing his car during a drunk driving incident.

Yabuki (12-3, 11KOs) makes his first attempt at a major title, though having already faced world-class opposition.

The 29-year-old from Nagoya endured his first career loss in just his fourth pro fight, dropping a four-round decision to Junto Nakatani who is now a WBO flyweight champion. Yabuki also came up just short in a September 2018 eight-round majority decision defeat to Daniel Matellon, an unbeaten, perennial Top 10 junior flyweight contender.

Five wons have since followed for Yabuki, including a ten-round, unanimous decision over Toshimasa Ouchi last December in Kariya, Japan.

The bout will air live through Cantera Doga Pay-Per-View.
