While a lot of the attention in Reno has been focused on the featherweight clash between Shakur Stevenson and Joet Gonzalez, two junior welterweights hope to make a name for themselves tonight.

Unbeaten Kendo Castaneda will face Stan Martyniouk at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, Nevada. The eight-round bout will stream live on UFC Fight Pass (10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT).

At Thursday’s weigh-in, Castaneda weighed in at the contract weight of 142.6 pounds. Martyniouk weighed 142.2 pounds.

Tonight’s bout is an intriguing crossroads clash between two technical fighters who hope to take the next step up in a competitive 140-pound weight division.

“Castaneda vs. Martyniouk is exactly what UFC Fight Pass and the sport of boxing needs,” Roy Jones Jr. Promotions matchmaker Guy Taylor told BoxingScene Thursday morning. “These are two fighters who are not afraid to dare to be great. This is can’t-miss TV.”

Castaneda (16-0, 7 knockouts), who resides in San Antonio, last fought on Mar. 28, defeating Eudy Bernando of the Dominican Republic by unanimous decision over 10 rounds.

The 25-year-old, who is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Promotions, has won his last three fights by decision after stopping his previous four opponents.

Martyniouk (20-2, 6 KOs) is originally from Estonia and now resides in the San Francisco suburb of Belmont. In his last bout on Mar. 9, Martyniouk stopped Francisco Lopez Chavez after the second round of a stay-busy fight.

The 34-year-old Martyniouk has won his last seven bouts since losing by split-decision to then-unbeaten prospect Ivan Najera in August of 2014.

In the co-feature, Oscar Vazquez will face Gilberto Mendoza in an eight-round bantamweight bout.

Vazquez (15-2, 3 KOs) will be returning to the ring for the first time since losing by decision to Ricardo Sandoval on May 4 of last year in his hometown of Reno. The 32-year-old had gone unbeaten over a span of almost six years.

Mendoza (15-7-2, 7 KOs), who is originally from Mexicali, Mexico and now resides in Modesto, California, knocked out Jose Villegas in the third round of his last bout on Aug. 10. He has won four bouts since losing by decision to Genesis Libranza of the Philippines on Feb. 9.

In other bouts on the UFC Fight Pass:

- Rosalinda Rodriguez (10-0, 2 KOs) of Miami will square off against Tijuana, Mexico’s Myrka Aguayo (2-1) in a six-round bantamweight bout.

- Featherweight Ricardo Lucio (2-0, 2 KOs), who resides in Reno, will face Amarillo, Texas’ Mobley Villegas (2-0, 2 KOs) in a four-round bout.

- In junior welterweight action, Peter Cortez (1-1) of Reno will square off against Las Vegas’ Daquan Mays (3-0, 1 KO) in a four-round bout.

Tonight’s fight card will be a co-promotion between Roy Jones Jr. Promotions and Joey Gilbert Promotions.
