Bramall Lane, Sheffield - Lenroy Thomas (21-4) won a twelve round split decision over David Allen (11-3-1) for the Commonwealth heavyweight championship. The scores were 115-114 Thomas, 113-115 Allen, 115-114 Thomas.

Thomas, who had Kenny Porter working his corner, provided a lot of problems to Allen with his southpaw style and fast combinations. But Allen pushed the fight with constant pressure and seemed to be the stronger of the two. Thomas lost a point for a low blow at the midway point, but never seemed to be in trouble when Allen connected with solid shots.

Making his debut for Matchroom Sport, super middleweight contender Jamie Cox (22-0) won a nine round technical unanimous decision over Lewis Taylor. Cox remains as the mandatory challenger to British champion Rocky Fielding.

The fight was stopped in the ninth, by the decision of the ringside doctor, because of a cut suffered by Taylor from an accidental head clash. The scores were 88-83, 88-83 and 87-84 for Cox. The win gives Cox the vacant WBA intercontinental championship.

Taylor suffered the cut very early in the fight when the two boxer's collided with their heads. Taylor fought on, but the fight eventually had to be stopped.

Cox, who Kell Brook used as a sparring partner for the mandatory defense against Errol Spence, was the stronger fighter in the contest and bullied Taylor around the ring and landed the more significant punches throughout the contest.

Super featherweight Andy Townend (19-4) is heading to the lightweight division after stopping Jon Kays (22-6-1) in two rounds. They fought for the vacant commonwealth super featherweight title, which remains without an owner after Townend failed to make weight on Friday.

Middleweight prospect Anthony Fowler (1-0, 1 KO) made his pro debut with a first round stoppage of Arturs Geilkins (3-8).

Joe Cordina (3-0, 3 KOs) stopped Josh Thorne (1-10) in one round, but the fight was controversial as Cordina landed a late punch that had Thorne in bad shape and his corner pulled him from the fight.

Highly regarded Olympian Lawrence Okolie (3-0, 3 KOs) blasted out undefeated Rudolf Helesic (2-1) in one round.
