IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs) is hungry to make a statement next Saturday at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield.

Brook will defend his world title against IBF mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier (25-2, 17KOs) of Canada.

Bizier became the mandatory challenger after breaking the jaw and stopping Frederick Lawson last November in a final title eliminator. This will be Brook's first fight since last May's knockout victory over Frankie Gavin.

Brook had hoped to get a bigger name opponent, but the IBF ordered him to defend against Bizier or face the possibility of getting stripped.

Bizier has never been stopped in his career, and Brook wants to become the first person to do it. The Canadian fighter is a huge underdog in the contest, because his two defeats came at the hands of Jo Jo Dan - who Brook demolished last March in four rounds.

Brook told The Sheffield Star: “There is pressure from people for me to get rid of him in style but great athletes perform better under pressure. Doing a job on Bizier and impressing is all I can do and I will do that. It would be good to stop him - after all, he is not in my league. It will be the first Canadian I have boxed and I am looking forward it.”

According to retired champion Jamie Moore, Brook better not get too overconfident by overlooking his upcoming opponent.

“Something should be mindful of. Kell is an experienced fighter and he’s at the top level so he can’t afford to take his eye off the ball for one second. I don’t think it’ll be a problem as long as it has been addressed before-hand. You tend to get problems there when everybody around you is complacent” Moore told Sky Sports.

“I don’t think it’ll happen in this case because Dominic Ingle and Brendan Ingle - and Johnny Nelson, who is good friends with Kell - will all be drumming it in to him that he can’t afford to take his eye off the ball. I’m sure he’ll be professional enough.”
