Kell Brook hopes to use Saturday’s bout with Sergey Rabchenko as a stepping stone to another world title tilt.

The 31-year-old meets Belarus star Rabchenko at the Sheffield Arena in his first light-middleweight fight having surrendered his IBF world welterweight title in his last bout.

Brook suffered a fractured left eye socket at the home of his beloved Blades in his last fight, a setback following on from his broken right eye socket picked up against Gennady Golovkin eight months earlier.

Two sets of surgery left Brook’s career in the balance, but now he believes he is getting back to his best.

Brook believes stepping up in weight has helped him fall back in love with boxing, following two fractured eye sockets.

“Even as a teenager, I wanted to move up the weights and win belts,” Brook told the BBC.

“I want to be a two-weight world champion; I’ve never been satisfied winning one world title.

“I need to get the win and then we can start targeting the champions at 154-pounds.”

Sheffield star Brook is back in the ring bidding to shake off his loss to America’s Errol Spence Junior in May, where he lost his title at Bramall Lane.

Brook started well, but faded down the stretch and was stopped in the eleventh round.

He admits that he should have never taken the fight, after jumping up all the way to middleweight for the Golovkin fight. He was stopped in five by Golovkin, and then wanted to make his mandatory obligation against Spence.

Brook believes the junior middleweight division is the perfect division for a new career chapter.

“I’ve got the butterflies and nerves just like it’s my first time getting in there,” said Brook.

“I think I need to feel like that though, those nerves are going to make me sharper because I know there’s a lot at stake on Saturday.”
