Promoter Greg Cohen has confirmed that his cruiserweight client, Lateef Kayode, is going to the division that brought him the most success. As BoxingScene.com previously reported, Kayode will challenge Denis Lebedev for the WBA championship on November 4th in Russia. The fight will co-headline with Alexander Povetkin's battle against Marisuz Wach.

"Lateef is going to be fighting November 4th in Kazan, Russia against Denis Lebedev for the WBA title," he told BoxingScene.com on Tuesday.

"Look, Lateef is still undefeated, 21-0, 16 knockouts, this is chance. He's going to fight for the cruiserweight title."

Last September Kayode had an unsuccessful foray as a heavyweight as he was  halted in one round versus Luis Ortiz, who promptly failed his post-fight drug test, turning that bout into a no-contest. Back on May 29th in Memphis, Tennesse, Kayode out-pointed Nick Kisner over ten rounds.

"For many years people have known him as a cruiserweight this is his opportunity to go out and knock Lebedev out and bring a belt back to the United States,"said Cohen.
