Kay Prospere maintained his undefeated record on Saturday but had to make do with the circumstances.

The Goodwin Boxing-promoted super-lightweight won on points at London’s O2 Arena, as part of the undercard to David Haye’s sensational two-round demolition of Arnold Gjergjaj.

Prospere is now expected to move into title contention after advancing to 9-0, defeating Innocent Anyanwu on points over four rounds and getting the nod by 40 points to 36.

But despite winning against the Nigerian-born Dutchman, who slipped to 22-17-3 (13 KOs) with that loss, Prospere was far from happy with the less than smooth build-up.

“I had so [many] distractions yesterday,” he wrote on Facebook. “Firstly, [I was] being told I was fighting third [on the card and] then not at all.

“Then [I was] placed as a floater [and did] not know if or when I was fighting.

“I couldn't have asked for worse preparation to a fight. Many people left thinking I wasn't fighting, so I would like to apologise to those people.

“[I] [w]ould like to thank [my manager] Steve Goodwin and his team for all their efforts, [but there are] bigger and better things to come.”
