Heavyweight Kash Ali’s luck has gone from bad to worse.

The British Boxing Board of Control has announced that Ali's boxing license has been suspended pending a hearing. Ali was disqualified for biting David Price during Saturday’s heavyweight bout.

The incident happened in round five when Price, 35, landed a solid counter that really staggered the previously undefeated Ali. He reacted by grabbing and tackling Price to the canvas where he was seen to bite the Liverpudlian, leaving a visible mark on his torso.

The disgraced boxer's purse of £20,000 will be withheld pending an investigation by the BBBoC.

Ali will be called before the BBBofC for a hearing and he is expected to face a hefty fine and a ban from the sport.

Referee Mark Lyson rightly disqualified Ali after Price complained 'he's biting me'.

Ali was pelted with drinks from the angry crowd inside the M&S Bank Arena as security rushed him away.

"Before the fight he was like a lunatic looking across the ring at me. From early on he was throwing the head in and trying to bite me," Price told MTK Global.

"It got a bit scrappy at times, and in the fifth round I give away a few shots to try and let him blow out a bit.

"I hit him with a left to the body and he winced, then fell on top of me and bit me. He had already bit me earlier in the fight and was looking for a way out.

"I broke his nose in the second or third round and shook him, but let him off the hook a bit. It was a 10-round fight so I didn't want to do too much too soon. It's a bit of a disappointing result for me, but it's done now, and it's onwards and upwards."
