BoxingScene.com recently caught up with IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage (31-4) who is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Sechew Powell (26-3).

The victory was revenge for the Detroit, Michigan native who lost to Powell via 1st round knockout in May of 2005.

"I thought it was a real good performance because five or six years ago I lost to him. I was able to beat him and defend my belt. To beat him in my first title defense was awesome," Bundrage told BoxingScene.

After the bell rang to end the fight Bundrage yelled something in Powell's face that we couldn't make out clearly from ringside at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.  Powell retaliated by throwing a punch way after the bell. Bundrage said that another media outlet had stated that he spit in Powell's face and he wanted to set the record straight.

"I'm real glad you asked me that question because they (another media outlet) said that I spit in his face but I didn't. I just said 'And still', meaning and still the IBF junior middleweight champion of the world and he couldn't take it and he hit me after the bell."

Bundrage explained further by saying, "someone said I spit in his face and I was like, what, I would never spit in anyone's face.  You can ask Sechew Powell. He will tell you I didn't spit in his face."

The former Contender series participant went on to say that he would love to face undefeated WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in a unification bout. "The fans have been tweeting me and hitting me up on Facebook saying they want to see that fight. I'm a Dog. He's a tough Mexican. He's a Dog. I'm a Dog. It's a unification. I'm sure it will be a real good fight."

Alvarez is set to return to the ring on September 17th on the televised undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Oriz mega-fight.

Even though the Powell fight took place on June 25th, Bundrage said he would have no problem getting ready for a September 17th fight vs the popular Mexican fighter.

I will definitely be ready by then (September 17th). I am going to take a week or so off then I will be back in the gym."

K9 finished up our conversation by thanking his fans for their support. "I want to thank all of my fans for supporting K9. They can follow me @K9boxing on twitter and on Facebook."
