It was recently reported by BoxingScene that 2012 London Olympic light heavyweight bronze medalist Alexander Gvozdyk struck a deal with Top Rank, further enriching an already vast team of Olympic stars who have signed with this promotional company (also including Vasyl Lomachenko, Felix Verdejo, Egor Mekhontsev, Ryota Murata and Jose Ramirez – among others).

While Vasyl Lomachenko signed with Top Rank, another top-notch Ukrainian amateur star, Olexander Usyk, decided on K2 Promotions and already got two stoppage wins as a pro.

The head of K2 Ukraine, Alexander Krassyuk, told Yuri Tarantin of Allboxing.ru how he feels about Gvozdyk heading off to the States.

“I found out about it directly from Alexander on the eve of his signing. I feel very sorry about it as I consider Alexander to be one of the most talented and promising light heavyweights on the Earth”, said Krassyuk.

“It’s not a secret; we’ve been negotiating with Alexander for quite a time. We hoped that he would sign with us (as Usyk did). He told us, it is his final decision, and it’s not about fees and purses – Alexander wants to test himself overseas, in the Mecca of pugilism. I wished him all the best. I’m still his cordial fan and supporter. If he wants to discuss something, to get my advice – I’m willing to help him at any time”.
