BoxingScene.com has been advised that welterweight contender Joel Julio will not go forward with a scheduled fight against Antwone Smith on the Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah undercard, which takes place on July 23 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.  Julio's mother and sister were involved in a serious car accident in Colombia and the boxer left his training camp to be with his family.

"I don't have a lot of information because I just got off of the airplane and I've been in Poland all week, but apparently Joel's mother and his sister were in a serious car accident in Colombia and the last I had heard, he went there to be them in the hospital," said Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, who promotes Julio, to BoxingScene.com.

"He's in the middle of training, and it's so close to the fight, but the last we heard from his manager, there's just no way that he's going to be back. He wants to stay there to make sure that they're okay. I don't know a lot about the details of their condition, but I'll find out tomorrow when I go to work."
