Julio Cesar Martinez wants to make the most of his opportunity on November 19.

The WBC flyweight champion hopes when he finally gets in the ring with McWilliams Arroyo that he can become the first fighter to knock out the durable Puerto Rican contender. Arroyo, 35, has fought several top opponents, including Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, and he has lost only on points since he turned pro 11 years ago.

“I’d be very happy to knock him out,” Martinez told BoxingScene.com. “[I'll be] ready for either a knockout or for 12 rounds. But I’ve surprised people before.”

Martinez-Arroyo will be featured on a card that’ll showcase WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade in the main event versus Jason Quigley. DAZN will stream most of the card live from SNHU in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Arroyo (21-4, 16 KOs) is the mandatory challenger for Martinez’s WBC 112-pound title. They were supposed to fight August 15, but Martinez withdrew from what was supposed to be a main event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, due to what Martinez described to BoxingScene.com as a gastrointestinal issue.

And then Martinez withdrew with hand issue when they were scheduled to fight in February, as part of undercard to Canelo Alvarez's mandatory defense against Avni Yildirim.

Arroyo would instead stop late replacement Abraham Rodriguez in five rounds.

Martinez (18-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC) came back in June and stopped optional opponent, Joel Cordova, in the sixth round at Arena Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico. That marked Martinez’s 11th stoppage in his past 12 fights.

“I’ve fought great opponents even at super flyweight and flyweight, and I’ve gotten through everyone,” Martinez said. “Hopefully, a knockout comes, but [I'll be] ready for 12 rounds. I want to come forward. I want it to be a brawl. I can move, though, and I can do anything. I’m ready for whatever comes."
