LOS ANGELES - Kicking off 2016 with fireworks, the first LA FIGHT CLUB of the new year will feature East L.A’s undefeated Julian “El Camarón” Ramirez (15-0, 8 KOs) in a 10 round featherweight bout headlining the live event on Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV on January 29, 2016 from Downtown’s Belasco Theater.

Undefeated featherweight standout Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez (19-0-1, 14 KOs) will also make his first 2016 appearance in the ring at LA FIGHT CLUB in a 10-round featherweight televised co-main event. Additional fighters on the undercard will be announced soon.

“The response we’ve received with LA FIGHT CLUB has far exceeded our expectations,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “We set out early this year to bring exciting boxing match ups back to downtown Los Angeles with this series and we’ve done just that. The greater Los Angeles area is rich with up- and-coming boxing talent, and LA FIGHT CLUB has been a great way to showcase these fighters.”

Known as “El Camarón,” Ramirez is coming off of a unanimous decision win on the undercard of the Lucas Matthysse vs. Viktor Postol fight Oct. 3 at the Stubhub Center in Carson in an action-packed affair that had the fans on their feet. The undefeated East Los Angeles native has boxing in his blood. His late uncle was the former WBA and WBC Super Featherweight World Champion Genaro “El Chicanito” Hernandez. Ramirez has been on the fast track since turning professional in 2012. A dynamic southpaw who has the skills to succeed, the 22 year-old Ramirez gave a spectacular showing on the undercard of Matthysse vs. Postol on October 3 and a thrilling main event showdown April 2 when he headlined LA FIGHT CLUB for the first time card, adding another victory to his resume with a unanimous decision win over the vicious Raul “Bule” Hidalgo. Ramirez will look to start off 2016 strong with a win on Jan. 29.

Unbeaten in 19 professional fights, La Puente, Calif.’s Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez wants to start making his move to the elite level at 126 pounds and despite a draw against Juan Carlos Martinez in March, the 27-year-old’s fifth-round knockout of 1996 Ghanian Olympian Alfred Tetteh in May proved that he’s ready for that next step. Owner of wins over Gabriel Tolmajyan, Aaron Garcia and Jorge Diaz, Lopez is looking forward to his next challenge on Jan. 29.

A new series announced in February 2015 by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, LA FIGHT CLUB has proven to be a smashing success since its debut. Nearly every show in the monthly series has sold out, attracting local hard-core and casual boxing fans alike. The series has been a hit due to its exciting matchups, electric atmosphere and celebrity following.

At LA FIGHT CLUB, the boxing ring is set on the main floor of the Belasco Theater with on-camera standing room for fans in front of the ring similar to a concert pit, as well as reserved balcony and floor seats. Los Angeles' own DJ Ray of Big Boy's Neighborhood spins music during the fights and fans are able to dance and mingle with the fighters when the venue converts into a night club, in a VIP experience not matched by any promoter in the industry.

The LA FIGHT CLUB event on January 29, 2016 is a 10-round bout taking place at The Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the first bout begins at 5:30 p.m. The Estrella TV Boxeo Estelar broadcast will air live on Friday, December 4 at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT., and will also be simultaneously streaming live on estrellaTV.com and on YouTube via Fenomeno Studios: youtube.com/FenomenoStudios.
