It won´t be Seanie Monaghan or Nathan Cleverly that takes on WBA regular light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (47-2) in Neubrandenburg on March 12, in headline bout of a Sauerland Event promotion.

Instead, it will be former stablemate Eduard Gutknecht (29-3-1) that gets the chance, writes the always well informed Bild.

Gutknecht and Braehmer clashed in 2013 and Braehmer won the EBU title with a unanimous but disputed decision. Since then Gutknecht lost to Dmitry Sukhotsky and drew with Pablo Sosa, and then he and Sauerland parted ways.

Gutknecht is now with Wiking Box Team and was last year on two occasions he was set to fight Sauerland signed prospect Tyron Zeuge. However, Zeuge was first was injured and the second time he was ill - and the fight ultimately fell through. Gutknecht knocked out late sub Arman Torosyan and became mandatory challenger for the vacant EU title – but now gets a world title fight instead.

Braehmer was originally scheduled to fight Tommy Oosthuizen, who was pulled from the fight last week by his promoter and his trainer, and both of them openly stated the boxer was not in shape and battling substance abuse issues.
