Juan Manuel Lopez bounced back Saturday night from a technical-knockout loss eight months ago.

The former super bantamweight and featherweight champion beat up Cristian Mino throughout their 10-round fight and won a unanimous decision at Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo in Miami. Puerto Rico’s Lopez (36-6, 32 KOs) knocked down Argentina’s Mino (19-3, 17 KOs) four times – twice in the third round, once in the fourth and once in the sixth.

Mino also had a point deducted for holding in the 10th round.

His easy victory could lead Lopez to a fight against Yuriorkis Gamboa, if Cuba’s Gamboa beats Miguel Beltran Jr. in the main event Saturday night.

“I don’t know how he absorbed all the punishment,” Lopez said. “I couldn’t knock him out, but it was a good fight. It was uncomfortable because of his style, but I’ve been fighting for a long time and it was an excellent warmup for the Gamboa fight.”

Fellow Puerto Rican Jayson Velez stopped Lopez in the 12th round of his last fight, March 3 in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Lopez was down by the same score, 108-101, on all three scorecards and bleeding from a cut over his right eye when referee Luis Pabon stopped that fight with barely more than a minute left in it.
