IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17KOs) is the latest fighter to call for Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) to take a risk by moving up by two weight divisions.

A few days ago, retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) also called on Golovkin to make a jump by two weight classes.

Golovkin's most recent opponent, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25KOs), jumped up by thirteen pounds to challenge GGG for his WBA/IBO/IBF/WBC middleweight titles. Brook put up a very solid effort, but he was eventually stopped in the fifth round.

Mayweather had Brook ahead on points at the time of the stoppage. He wants to see Golovkin take the same risk as Brook.

"Very, very close fight, some had Triple G ahead, some had Kell Brook ahead. I probably had Kell Brook ahead a little bit," Mayweather told Fighthype.com. "But in the sport of boxing, it's about taking risks. I respect Kell Brook for taking a risk, going up two weight classes, now we're waiting for Triple G to go up and take risks like every other champion."

Now Joshua is also wondering how Golovkin would do if he took the same risk, by jumping up to the light heavyweight limit of 175-pounds.

"Kell Brook is talented - he's been boxing for years, he boxed well, and Triple G gained his respect by stalking him round the ring and managing to get the stoppage. Kell gained a lot of respect because he took all the risks, in my opinion, and Triple G handled business as he should have done as a middleweight. It would be interesting to see how Triple G does if he moves up two weights because that's what Kell Brook has done," Joshua said to Sky Sports.
