As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, promoter Eddie Hearn traveled over to Las Vegas to hold a meeting with MGM executives to discuss the possibility of staging Anthony Joshua's proposed rematch with Wladimir Klitschko at one of their venues.

Hearn recently stated that Las Vegas was the frontrunner to host the second fight.

Back in April, Joshua unified the IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight titles when he got off the floor in the sixth round to rally down the stretch and stop Klitschko in the eleventh round.

There is a rematch clause in place and it appears likely that Klitschko will go in that direction. If for whatever reason Klitschko takes a pass on the fight, then IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev would become Joshua's next fight.

Hearn held a meeting with the MGM execs, who have him a tour of the T-Mobile Arena, which seats 20,000.

"We met with Richard Sturm and the team at MGM in Las Vegas yesterday and had a full tour of the T-Mobile Arena which is very impressive," Hearn told Sky Sports. "There is a huge appetite from both sides to hold the rematch there and we will be talking further over the next week or so to see if that can become a reality."

The T-Mobile Arena is hosting next month's huge Showtime Pay-Per-View fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, and then the September HBO Pay-Per-View showdown between Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez and IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.

An MGM Resorts International spokesman said: "I don't know how close we are, but I can tell you that there are discussions taking place and hopefully it would be a great opportunity to have the chance to host the fight. Asked about a final decision on the venue, he added: "We are in early discussions now. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks."
