Con Sheehan has been ruled out of his next fight.

The Irish heavyweight, who is undefeated in six outings as a professional with one early, had been set to attempt to advance his ledger later this month.

But Clonmel’s Sheehan will not box on September 23 at the Manchester Arena after suffering an injury.

He had been scheduled to feature on the undercard of Joseph Parker’s WBO world heavyweight title against Hughie Fury, which will be streamed exclusively live on YouTube in the UK and Ireland at a cost of £9.99.

However, the 28-year-old took to social media last week to confirm that he had been forced out.

“[I have] fractured my hand sparring last night,” Sheehan wrote on Facebook last Wednesday.

“I’m absolutely sick [that I] won't be fighting [on September 23] now.

“When will this nightmare of a year end?”

Further details regarding the Peter Fury-trained heavyweight’s next move upon his injury return will be revealed in due course.

IN OTHER NEWS: Alex Dickinson will return to the ring later this month.

The undefeated heavyweight (1-0) has been handed the opportunity to showcase his ability on the undercard of a world title fight.

Dickinson, who made his debut back in June in Belfast, will box on the Parker vs. Fury card.

“I'm over the moon to be featuring on this bill and it's a great opportunity." Dickinson, who has recently sparred David Price, said when the news was revealed.

“The Manchester Arena is a great venue and it's an added bonus that it's only an hour away from my home town.

"I don't mind doing the rounds as I'm always fit enough to do them.

“But as a heavyweight, it's always lovely to get the knockout and open people's eyes to what I'm about.

“I took a lot from my debut. I realised I need to slow my work down and pick my shots more.

“I just want to get out again and do the business on an unbelievable show.”
