According to promoter Pepe Gomez of Cancun Boxing, the specific details are being negotiated with Golden Boy Promotions to stage a battle for the interim-WBC lightweight championship between Jorge Linares (37-3, 24 KOs) and Javier Prieto (24-7-2, 18 KOs).

The full lightweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Omar "Panterita" Figueroa, is pondering his future - as to whether or not he plans to remain at 135-pounds, and Figueroa is still recovering from the serious cut he suffered durring his most recent title defense against Mexico's Daniel Estrada.

Prieto is coming off back to back draws with compatriot Ivan "Macanon" Cano, and Jorge Linares in his most recent bout scored a second round knockout over Ira Terry, on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
