Former world champion Jorge Barrios is heading back to prison. A judge from the Court of Appeals in Argentina has upheld a four year prison sentence from 2012.

Back in 2012, Barrios was sentenced to four years in prison for a manslaughter charge. The charge is related to an accident which occurred in January 2010. Barrios was traveling in his car at a very high speed and lost control of his vehicle.

After losing control of his vehicle, Barrios crashed into another vehicle - and that vehicle slammed into Yamila Gonzalez, 20-years-old, who was crossing the street with her family members. Gonzalez, who was six months pregnant, was killed. Her mother and other family members suffered injuries.

Barrios fled the scene and had another accident a few blocks away. He later turned himself in to authorities. Barrios did not test positive for any controlled substances or alcohol.

While it was never confirmed that Barrios had been drinking at the time of the accident, it was determined that the boxer was using his cell phone.

After the 2012 sentence, Barrios spent less than a month in prison before being bailed out.

The lawyer for the family of Gonzalez was requesting a sentence of twelve years. The three judge panel of Juan Manuel Sueyro, Oscar Alemano and Eduardo Angulo ruled otherwise.
