It seems Jorge Arce's retirement was short-lived.

The Mexican all-action fighter will reportedly return to the ring against Akifumi Shimoda on September 21, according to Corey Erdman of RingTV and Fight Network.

Arce (61-7-2, 46 KOs) was last seen in the squared circle in December, when he was knocked flat by Nonito Donaire on HBO.

Shimoda (27-3-2, 12 KOs) of Japan was the WBA's 122-pound titleholder, but lost it by knockout in a 2011 fight against Rico Ramos. He's coming off a 10-round majority draw versus Roli Gasca in April.
