Super welterweight contender Jonathan Gonzalez is training hard for his upcoming bout on May 1 at the Hialeah Park Race Track in Hialeah, Florida. Gonzalez will be facing Mexican veteran Rogelio Medina (32-5-26 KO’s).

González ( 17-0-1-14 KO 's) already has a plan laid out for his opponent whom he described as the kind who likes to apply pressure.

"This fight will be a good one, as you all know my opponent is a strong puncher who applies pressure and my plan will be apply intelligent pressure on him to make him go backwards and I saw that he doesn’t fight very well going back," said Gonzalez to Mr. Boxing.

Gonzalez is clear that a good perfomance would get him big-name opponents and it sounds like his next fight could be broadcast on Showtime.

"If we do well, we'll be back in the big fights on Showtime, and I'll fight anyone at 154. Whatever name they give me we're going to take, and I am ready for anyone and ready to be a world champion," Gonzalez said.
