Poland - On Saturday night, BOXXER presented a card in association with Knockout Promotions, and the local crowd went crazy in the main event when hometown hero Lukasz Rozanski (15-0, 14 KO’s) made short work of Croatian wildman Alen ‘The Savage’ Babic (11-1, 10 KO’s) to claim the vacant WBC World Bridgerweight championship in front of a partisan crowd in the sold-out G2A Arena.

This was never expected to go the distance - as both fighters are gunslingers who favor all-out aggression and eschew defense - but the first-round finish was still surprising in its ferocity.

Rozanski found his mark first and Babic never fully recovered, being put on the back foot almost instantly and suffering a storm of heavy leather which did not relent until the referee waved the fight off at 2.10 of the round.

Babic was rocked, eventually dropped, and then pounded with big punches until the referee stepped in to wave off teh contest.

Former cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson believes Babic made a big mistake by training to box instead of brawl. Babic was working for the first time with a new trainer and wanted to showcase his boxing ability - a strategy that seemed to be his downfall.

"Babic was stuck betwixt and between - does he fight, does he box? I think Babic expected to walk through Rozanski and beat the fight out of him but once he got clipped, you could see he was befuddled, discombobulated," Nelson told Sky Sports.

"It was a shock to Babic, feeling the power he usually puts on everyone else. It was a rough way to learn a harsh lesson. He met another little Tasmanian devil and he wasn't prepared for that.

"If ever there was a time for Babic to be Babic, it was tonight. The worst thing he could do was try to box this guy, especially if it was new to him. How does he move forward from here?"
