Junior middleweight contender John Vera won a hard-fought 10 round majority decision over Daniel Rosario Saturday night at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino in Chandler, Arizona.

Vera successfully defended his regional title belt and improves to 17-0, with 10 by way of knockout. The hard-hitting Rosario, who hails from Puerto Rico, dropped to 11-3, with 10 KOs.

Rosario has now lost his last two bouts.

One judge scored the bout 95-95, while the other two judges scored the bout 96-94 in favor of Vera, who resides in Fort Worth, Texas.

Vera is ranked number seven by the WBA.

In the co-feature, junior featherweight contender Rico Ramos won a 10 round unanimous decision over Juan Antonio Lopez.

Ramos utilized his superego skill-set to outbox Lopez, eventually dropping in round 10. Scores were 98-91, 98-91, and 99-90 for Ramos, who improves to 28-5, with 13 KOs.

The 30-year-old Ramos has now won his last four bouts and is ranked number 10 by the WBA.

Welterweight Abel Ramos (18-2-2, with 13 KOs) stopped Emmanuel Robles (15-3-1, with 5 KOs) at 1:16 of the sixth round. It was Ramos'  first fight since his hard-fought decision loss to unbeaten Ivan Baranchyk.

In bantamweight action, 19-year-old Max Ornelas (9-0-1, with 4 KOs) stopped Leopoldo Martinez (6-0-1, with 3 KOs) in the seventh round. The fight was a rematch from their April 15 clash, which ended in a draw in round two due to an accidental clash of heads that opened a cut above Martinez's eye.
