On March 24th, unbeaten prospects John Joe Nevin (8-0) and Luis "Popeye" Lebron (7-0-1) will battle for the vacant UBF international featherweight title.

Lebron's management team, New Face of Boxing, told BoxingScene.com that the bout will be scheduled for either 8 or 10 rounds and will take place at The Filmore in Philadelphia with Hard Hitting Promotions promoting the event.

Nevin won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games representing his native Ireland. Part of the intrigue of the bout is how well he will fare moving down two weight classes from the lightweight division.

Nevin defeated WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez, decorated Cuban amateur Lazaro Alvarez, Dennis Ceylan and Kanat Abutalipov before losing in the gold medal round against Luke Campbell. He also competed at the 2008 Beijing games where he was knocked out in the second round.

The 23-year old Lebron turned pro in 2013 in  his native Puerto Rico and is looking to the make the jump from prospect status to contender quickly. A win over a silver medalist should help bring him one step closer to his goal.
