In a welterweight bout scheduled for four rounds on DAZN, Joel Iriarte scored his second knockout in his second pro fight, stopping Kevin Aguirre with just under a minute left in the opening round.

Iriarte (2-0, 2 KOs) is an accomplished amateur with a 46-9 record at the lower level. Though just five of those amateur wins were knockouts, Iriarte is off to an explosive start in the pros with two straight stoppage wins.

Aguirre (5-3, 2 KOs) began quickly, looking to be the aggressor, but hard power shots from Iriarte quickly forced him to retreat. Iriarte, possessing a four-and-a-half inch reach advantage, landed some stiff jabs as he pressed forward.

Midway through the first round, Iriarte landed a pair of massive uppercuts, one from each hand, the latter of which had Aguirre reeling. DAZN commentator Chris Mannix speculated that the punch had broken Aguirre’s nose.

Iriarte surged in with a combination to seal the deal and Aguirre sank to the canvas. Aguirre shook his head during the count and Iriarte had his second professional win.

Iriarte, at just 20 years old, seems intent on beginning his professional career as emphatically as possible.
