Joe Ham (14-1, 5 KOs) spends some of his time doing maintenance work at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena due to his day job as a joiner and in a case of art imitating working life he will step into the venue’s boxing ring on a Lee Eaton-promoted show on November 30.

The 27-year-old Super bantamweight contender is no stranger to the venue, so he believes that it will be like a home away from home when he fights there for the first time.

Ham has also fought at the city’s SSE Hydro as well as the SEE Arena in Belfast yet he has told Glasgow Live that the size of the venue makes no difference to him.

“It doesn’t matter if the fight is in a car park or the Hydro, I just stay focused,” he said.  “I have been training for it for weeks so once the bell goes the noise doesn’t bother me at all.”

Despite losing to Tyrone McCullagh by decision for the BBBoC Celtic title in June, Ham believes that his time will come again and that the British title will be wrapped around his waist someday.  “After the decision I would fight anywhere but Belfast,” he declared.

“He danced all night after I dropped him and he didn’t want to know.  I left with barely a mark on me but I just want to move on and learn from the experience...Once I have the British then who knows where next?  The Gorbals to Vegas would be a good story.”
