WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (56-8, 47KOs) is looking to end the year with a lot of activity. Up first is an all-Mexican fiesta with former four division champion Jorge Arce (64-7-2, 49KOs) on October 4th in Los Mochis, Mexico.

If all goes well, Gonzalez has an offer from Golden Boy Promotions to make a title defense on a date in December in the United States. Golden Boy has three options on Gonzalez from his knockout of Abner Mares a year ago.

"My plan is to fight on October 4 and at the end the year in the United States after an offer came to us from Golden Boy. As champion, it would be great to have that activity at the end of the year. First I have to defeat Arce and then close the year with another victory," said Gonzalez.

"We expect a tough fight [with Arce]. Arce is a warrior, he is a fighter who leaves everything in the ring. We are in a great moment and we will continue to demonstrate that we are solid champions against any opponent that is put in front of us."
