Jhonny Gonzalez continues to wait for an opportunity to fight for a world title belt. That will likely happen in 2019, if he does secure a shot.

Gonzalez will focus on former world titleholder Tomas Rojas tonight in a 10 round bout at the faced Arena Coliseo in Mexico City. The fight will air live on Televisa throughout Mexico.

At Friday's weigh-in, both fighters weighed in at 129.8 pounds.

Gonzalez (66-10, 54 knockouts) last fought on Apr. 7, winning a one-sided decision over Marylyn Cabrera of the Dominican Republic. The 37-year-old Gonzalez, who resides in Mexico City, has won his last eight bouts since a majority decision loss to Jonathan Oquendo in September of 2015.

Gonzalez, who has won world title belts in two different weight classes, is approaching 20 years as a professional. He lost his pro debut in August of 1999, and his next bout and his next bout almost three months later before becoming a contender at 118 pounds.

He is currently ranked number four by the WBC at 130 pounds.

Rojas (49-16-1, 33 KOs) was stopped after round seven of his last bout on Oct. 7 by Edivaldo Ortega. The 38-year-old Rojas, who resides in Veracruz, Mexico and held a junior bantamweight title, has lost two of his last three bouts.

Flyweight Jacky Calvo (11-3-2, 1 KO), who also resides in Mexico City, will square off against Kandy Sandoval (9-11, 2 KOs) in a 10 round bout.

Lightweight Isaac Cruz Gonzalez (14-1-1, 11 KOs) of Mexico City will face Angel Chan (5-2-1, 1 KO) in an eight round bout.
