The Forum, Inglewood, California - WBA super featherweight champion Jezreel "El Invisible" Corrales (22-1, 8 KOs) made his United States debut in a tough way, overcoming two knockdowns to win a ten round technical decision over Robinson "Robin Hood" Castellanos (24-13, 14 KOs). The scores were 94-94 for the draw, 94-93 and 96-92 for Corrales.

Castellanos was coming off a stunning May stoppage of Olympic gold medal winner and former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa. Last year, Corrales traveled to Japan to secure back to back upset wins over Takashi Uchiyama.

Castellanos was having trouble dealing with the style of Corrales. He was unable to land his big shots in the early going. There was a lot of dirty tactics by both and a cut on Castellanos in the second round from a clash of heads. The dirty tactics continued in the third, with Corrales going down from a low blow, but they were getting more active with their punches and landing good shots.

In the fourth, Corrales was dropped and also suffered a cut around his right eye. They started exchanging punches and Castellanos dropped him once again with a big counter right hand. Castellanos then did damage for the remainder of the round.

Corrales started picking up the pace in the fifth and sixth, looking to change the tide as Castellanos was surging strong with his workrate. During the seventh, both boxers were landing well but Corrales dropped Castellanos with a good left hand near the end.

The fight was really tightening up over the next few rounds. They went to war in the ninth, with both boxers trading a lot of hard punches on each other. During the start of the tenth round, there was a bad clash of heads that opened up a very bad cut under the right eye of Castellanos.  The doctor took a look at the cut and quickly stopped the cut as the blood was raining down the face of Castellanos.
