Junior bantamweight Jeyvier Cintron remained unbeaten Friday night, defeating Marvin Solano by disqualification at the Cancha Ruben Zayas Montanez in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.

Cintron was in control of the fight from the opening bell, effectively using his ring generalship and quickness to outbox Solano.

As the bout progressed into the middle rounds, Solano chose to clench or grab onto Cintron. Referee Roberto Ramirez warned Solano several times of holding, but Solano continued to do so.

Ramirez finally had enough of warning Solano, and after deducting two points, disqualified him at 1:40 of the eighth round.

Cintron, who resides in nearby Bayamon, improves to 9-0, 4 knockouts. The 23-year-old is trained by former world titleholder Ivan Calderon.

Solano, who resides in Managua, Nicaragua, falls to 21-3, 8 KOs. He has split his last four bouts.

Another fighter from Puerto Rico also notched a victory before a partisan crowd.

Heavyweight Victor Bisbal (23-3, 17 KOs), who was fighting for the first time in two and a half years, knocked out Edson Roberto Dos Santos at 1:01 of the opening round.

Dos Santos, a 45-year-old who resides in Sao Paolo, Brazil, drops to 30-4-2, 24 KOs.

Heavyweight Clayton Laurent, Jr. won a four-round majority decision over Kenny Cruz Carasquillo (3-3-1, 2 KOs). One judge scored the bout 38-38 while the other two judges scored the bout 39-37 for Laurent, who goes to 3-0, 2 KOs.

In a battle of flyweights making their pro debut, David Reyes won by split-decision over Gabriel Roig Mendez. One judge scored the bout 39-36 for Roig Mendez, while the other two judges scored the bout 38-37 for Reyes.
