Welterweight contender Jesus Soto Karass (28-10-3) is putting the finishing touches on his training camp for April 15th clash against Yoshihiro Kamegai (26-3-1). The fight takes place at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles and will be televised on Estrella TV and streamed on RingTVLive.com.

The 33-year-old Soto Karass is just counting down the days until fight night.

"My training has been excellent. It's been very good. We are just waiting for the fight," said Karass who is very excited about the matchup.

"When they offered me Kamegai I was like, 'Oh my God! Oh my goodness! That is going to be a war.' I have seen him fight and I know he comes forward like me and I know it will be a great fight. I'm Mexican and he's Japanese and we won't have any problem finding each other in the ring."

The Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico native hasn't boxed since losing an unanimous decision to Devon Alexander in June, 2014. That was his second loss in a row which prompted him to go in a different direction.

That direction was to fight in the pit of BKB (Big Knockout Boxing) twice last year, going 1-1. He defeated Ed Paredes and lost to Adrian Granados. BKB results are not part of a boxer's official record.

With the styles of the two fighters, I asked Karass if this boxing match will be fought similarly to that of BKB which is fought in a small circular ring that encourages and demands action and high contact from the participants.

"I had my two fights in BKB after the Alexander fight and it will be two years since I fought in boxing but we are both two fighters who go forward so t is similar - but I want to box a little more intelligently but if we don't, we will both go at it until one of us falls," Karass explained.

Hardcore fans have clamored for this matchup for over a year and Golden Boy, who promotes both fighters has listened. Lara's said that he has received positive feedback from the fans in the LA area who are thrilled about the matchup.

"All of the fans are very excited. They say they want to see the fight. They know it will be a great show. They knows it's a fight. That it is going to be a war," Karass promised.

Karass refused to look past Friday night but said that if all goes well he will met with his team shortly afterwards to see what direction they want to proceed in.

"Look, first I have to beat Kamegai. If I win then I will get with Golden Boy and my manager and see if I will fight at 154 or 147 after. Let's get through this fight and then see what happens after," Karass told BoxingScene.com.
