NEW YORK – Jesus Ramos didn’t get the knockout he sought, but he exacted revenge for his family Saturday night.

The 21-year-old southpaw outpointed Luke Santamaria unanimously in a 10-round junior middleweight match on the Gervonta Davis-Rolando Romero undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Judges Mark Consentino (98-92), Ken Ezzo (97-93) and Steve Weisfeld (97-93) scored their competitive contest for Ramos.

Ramos (19-0, 15 KOs), of Casa Grande, Arizona, entered the ring as a 10-1 favorite, according to Caesars Sportsbook. Santamaria (13-3-1, 7 KOs), of Garden Grove, California, boxed well at times, though, and was never bothered by Ramos’ power, despite that Santamaria moved up from the welterweight division for this fight.

Santamaria upset Ramos’ uncle, Abel Ramos, by unanimous decision in a 10-round welterweight fight on the Keith Thurman-Mario Barrios undercard February 5 at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

Jesus Ramos and Santamaria seemed destined to go the distance once they reached the last round.

Santamaria made Ramos fight off his back foot early in the 10th round. Santamaria landed a right hand with a minute to go in their fight.

Ramos and Santamaria landed in an entertaining exchange that began with about 20 seconds to go in the 10th round.

Ramos applied pressure in the ninth round, but Santamaria stood his ground at times and exchanged with him.

Santamaria became the aggressor in the second half of the eighth round, which he had not done much during any of the previous seven rounds.

Following a sixth round in which Santamaria outboxed him again, Ramos pressured Santamaria more at the start of the seventh round. He landed a straight left on Santamaria with just under a minute on the clock in the seventh round.

Ramos backed Santamaria into the ropes and initiated an exchange early in the fifth round. Santamaria stuck and moved for most of the rest of the fifth round

Ramos connected with a right hook just before the halfway point of the fourth round. About 15 seconds later, Santamaira countered Ramos with a right hand.

Santamaria caught Ramos with another right hand just before the fourth round ended.

Santamaria held Ramos after absorbing a right hand with about 50 seconds to go in the third round.

Ramos landed a left hand as Santamaria moved toward the ropes 1:10 into the second round. Santamaria countered Ramos with a right hand as he pressed forward toward the end of the second round.

Santamaria moved away from Ramos and tried to avoid his power for almost all of the first round.
