Jessie Vargas has advised BoxingScene.com that he will face former champion Humberto Soto on April 26th at The Forum in Los Angeles, Calif. The fight will be contested at a catchweight of 150 pounds.

Vargas recently announced that he was moving up to 154 pounds and that WBO champion Jaime Munguía is his main target.

Soto was in action last month when he pulled off an upset when he defeated Brandon Rios via unanimous decision in Tijuana in a DAZN streamed main event.

The former two-division champion Vargas fought twice in 2018 against Adrien Broner and Thomas Dulorme. Both fights ended in a draw.

In the main event Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will face Francisco Estrada in a rematch of their February, 2018 bout that Sor Rungvisai won via majority decision.

IN OTHER NEWS:  Jay Jimenez of King Kong Boxing has advised BoxingScene.com that he has signed unbeaten heavyweight Onoriode “Godzilla” Ehwrieme (17-0 16 KOs) of Nigeria.  He will help guide his career in the United States.

The 6’8” heavyweight giant is also managed by LPMG Boxing, one of the leading boxing management companies in Africa.

Jimenez, who is best known for his work with top heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz, also said that the 31-year-old Ehwrieme will be trained by Ortiz’s trainer Herman Caicedo in Florida. Caicedo trains several top fighters.

Ehwrieme only fought once last year and Jimenez said that the plan is for him to be much more active this year.
