Caleb Plant’s nickname might be Sweethands but there isn’t a damn thing sweet about him.

Fighting inside the ring is one thing but on numerous occasions, Plant has shown a propensity for mixing it up outside of it as well. The background story is a bit hazy but the video was crystal clear. It isn’t exactly known what provoked him, but Plant open hand slapped Jermall Charlo across the face in late July. Chaos ensued immediately after.

In the months that followed, Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) made his feelings known that he wanted to get his hands on Charlo again, this time in the ring.

For the most part, Charlo was quiet. He never fully addressed what took place with Plant. Nor did he mention him as a possible opponent. Simply put, Charlo had too much on his plate. From nagging injuries to personal issues, the 33-year-old’s career stalled.

Although fans were flummoxed as to why he no longer kept an active schedule, Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) promised that he would eventually return. According to multiple reports, that time has finally arrived.

Ostensibly, in the co-main event slot of David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade, Charlo will take on Jose Benavidez Jr.

Grabbing a win and getting his career back on track comes first. But as long as everything goes according to plan, Charlo is anxious to teach Plant a lesson. He may have been mum on the entire situation, but Charlo hasn’t forgotten a thing.

At some point, a fight against Plant will happen. When it does, don’t expect a back-and-forth battle of the minds. From Charlo's point of view, Plant will be left staring up at the ceiling lights and unaware of what just took place.

“When I get a chance to fight Caleb Plant,” said Charlo on Instagram Live. “I’m a knock the f--- out of Caleb Plant.”
