Jermall Charlo still wants to fight Canelo Alvarez more than any other opponent.

The WBC middleweight champion plans to remain at 160 pounds, though, which Charlo hopes leads to battling Alvarez’s rival. At least a fight against Gennadiy Golovkin would afford Charlo an opportunity to unify middleweight titles.

Charlo discussed possibly boxing Golovkin with host Brian Custer on the most recent episode of “The Last Stand Podcast.”

“Where the f--- is GGG?,” Charlo said. “Why ain’t nobody talking about him? He’s still top tier. If I can’t get Canelo, at least I can get GGG, right? Y’all wanna see me tested. Obviously, Derevyanchenko didn’t prove nothing, cuz y’all told me that fight was gonna get me to Canelo. I beat him the way I beat him – y’all still don’t give me no credit.”

Houston’s Charlo (31-0, 22 KOs) defeated Derevyanchenko (13-3, 10 KOs) much easier in his most recent fight than Golovkin handled the Ukrainian contender in Derevyanchenko’s previous bout.

Charlo comfortably beat Derevyanchenko on all three scorecards September 26 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut (118-110, 117-111, 116-112). Derevyanchenko gave Golovkin the most grueling test of his career in October 2019 and lost their middleweight title bout by significantly closer margins at Madison Square Garden in New York (115-112, 115-112, 114-113).

There has been no indication that a Charlo-Golovkin fight will happen next or even later this year, but Charlo would welcome it. Charlo realizes he’d face criticism if he beat an aged Golovkin, who’ll turn 39 on April 8, but Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) holds the IBF and IBO middleweight championships and still has lost only a majority decision to Alvarez (55-1-2, 37 KOs).

“I’ll take that Triple-G fight,” Charlo said. “I just, you know, if it present itself. The management team make the right calls and right decisions, I’ll fight Triple-G.”

The 30-year-old Charlo also said he would accept a long-discussed fight against WBO middleweight champ Demetrius Andrade.

Unlike Charlo and Golovkin, Andrade (29-0, 18 KOs) has a fight scheduled. The southpaw from Providence, Rhode Island, is set to make a mandated defense of his WBO belt against Wales’ Liam Williams (23-2-1, 18 KOs) on April 17 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

“I wanna unify, like my brother did, at 160,” Charlo said in reference to twin Jermell Charlo, the IBF/WBA/WBC 154-pound champion. “At least let me unify. At least let me just like capture the division. You know what I’m saying? Like, it’s somebody up at 160 that we can unify with, we can fight. It don’t matter who got the belt or nothing, no network. Like, we can make it happen. They gonna make it happen.”
