Former middleweight king Jermain Taylor continues his comeback, though the latest stop nearly produced disastrous results. A ninth round knockdown provided much needed drama for a largely dull affair, but Taylor literally held on to take a unanimous decision over Caleb Truax in their Showtime-televised main event Friday evening at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, MS.

Scores were 98-91, 97-92 and 97-94 for Taylor, who has won two straight since returning to the ring last December. Truax suffers his first professional loss.

In the televised co-feature, Erislandy Lara made quick work of Ronald Hearns, stopping the second generation fighter at 1:34 of the first round. Lara dropped Hearns early, rocked him to the point of a standing eight count and then outright flattened him to end the fight.
