As BoxingScene.com previously reported, former world champion and Olympic medalist Jermain Taylor was arrested for allegedly knocking a woman unconscious, putting a knife to her neck and threatening to kill her.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that Taylor pleaded not guilty to domestic battery and assault charges on Thursday at the Little Rock District Court before returning to the Pulaski County jail. Taylor is being held at the jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.

On Wednesday, officers responded to the 40-year-old boxer's home in response to a disturbance with a weapon.

According to the police report, Taylor's girlfriend mouthed asked for help when the officers arrives, as the retired boxer was hanging out with friends.

The reports states that Taylor became angry and accused his girlfriend of being unfaithful with a neighbor - which prompted him to punch her and slam her head into the wall until she became unconscious.

He later held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.

Officers reported injuries to her  chin, mouth, neck and right arm. She was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment.

In the last few years, Taylor has been through a string of legal issues and arrests.

Police in the Little Rock suburb of Maumelle arrested Taylor in July 2017 on a disturbance call. A woman alleged that Taylor bit her on the arm and face and threatened to kill her.

Earlier this month, prosecutors dropped those domestic violence charges against him, after the woman failed to continue cooperating with authorities.

Taylor suffered a brutal knockout at the hands of Arthur Abraham in 2009, as part of the Super Six super middleweight tournament.

He took off from boxing for two years before mounting a comeback, that saw him capture the IBF middleweight crown with an unexpected dominating win over Sam Soliman in 2014.

But before he could cash in on the big title win, Taylor was involved in a variety of legal issues that saw him get arrested for several violent crimes.

He’s currently serving a six-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty in 2015 to nine charges, including shooting his cousin in the leg.
