Cajun Dome, Lafayette - Jeremy “Zereaux” Hill picks up his third win in as many undercard appearances on Regis Prograis-topped shows in Louisiana. The 6’0” super lightweight from New Orleans remains perfect under his mentor, following a 3rd round knockout of  Kaylyn Alfred in the final bout of the preliminary undercard Saturday evening at Cajundome in Lafayette, La.

Alfred (3-2-1) did his best to make things as uncomfortable as possible for his rail-thin opponent, but just couldn’t get past the long, extended jab of Hill. Still, he was able to create a spirited affair for as long as the action lasted, at least until Hill was able to plant his feet long enough to let fly the power punches.

Body shots were key in all three knockdowns scored in the contest. Hill tagged Alfred’s midsection until willing his foe to the canvas midway through round three. Alfred beat the count but was sent down twice more, both coming courtesy of right hands to the body and the latter prompting the stoppage at 2:45 of round three.

Hill improves to 7-0 (4KOs) with the win, his first knockout on a Prograis undercard. The previous two appearances under the top-rated super lightweight both saw the 26-year old go the four-round distance.

New Orleans-based prospect Jonathan Montrel picked up the first stoppage of his young career, coming by freak accident when a bum shoulder forced Ivan Reyes to retire on his stool after two rounds.

Reyes overextended on a left hook in round one, thus throwing his shoulder out and was unable to fight through the excruciating pain for more than another round.

Montrel (3-0, 1KO) controlled the brief action, his aggressive style proving too much for the rail thin Reyes (0-2), a winless lightweight from Tampa, Fl. by way of Puerto Rico. Reyes informed his corner at the end of round one of the shoulder injury, and was slow to come off his stool at the start of round two.

Action was slow moving in the frame, with Montrel boxing on the outside before realizing he was facing a one-armed boxer. Reyes did his best to fight back, but was unable to fend off his squat foe in the final seconds of the round, with his corner informing the referee that he was done for the night prior to the start of round three.

Sean Hemphill joined fellow New Orleans prospect Jonathan Montrel in picking up a stoppage win in a fight where an opponent suffered an injury.

This one only lasted three minutes, as Dennis Williams (4-12-1) injured his right arm midway through the opening round of his super middleweight clash with Hemphill. Little of note happened in the brief affair, with Hemphill landing the most significant punches but none of which had anything to do with Williams suffering the freak injury.

Williams sold referee Kevin Babineuax on the notion that he could fight through the pain, but only made it to the end of the round before his corner alerted the ringside physician that their charge was done for the night. Hemphill (3-0, 3KOs) picks up his third consecutive 1st round knockout in as many pro fights.
