Undefeated heavyweight challenger Bryant "By-By" Jennings (19-0) wasn't impressed with Deontay Wilder's title winning performance on January 17th. Wilder captured the WBC belt with a wide points victory over Bermane Stiverne at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in a bout that was televised by Showtime.

Jennings said that Wilder did what he has to do to win but in a fight of that magnitude, he needed to do more.

I asked Jennings if the result of that that fight was more what Wilder did or what Stiverne, who went to the hospital afterwards for dehydration, didn't do.

"I just think Stiverne didn't do anything but my only disappointment in that fight was just the simple fact that that was a championship level fight and people are saying he stopped this guy and that (Wilder had stopped all off his opponents prior to the fight) but that ain't championship level fights - I mean this is the heavyweight champion of the world, the best of the best, two that are amongst the best in the world and that there wasn't a championship level type fight and that is the only thing that I said."

"You couldn't sell that based on the fight. The only thing that sold that fight was the fact that it was for a heavyweight championship. That's it. It wasn't a fight to literally be seen. It wasn't a fight literally to replay or literally to be inserted into heavyweight championship history," Jennings told BoxingScene.com.
