Former unified junior middleweight champion Jeison Rosario returned home on Monday and was met by reporters at the Puerto Las Americas Airport in the Dominican Republic.

This past Saturday night, Rosario staked his IBF, WBA world titles in a unification with WBC champion Jermell Charlo.

Their bout headlined a Showtime pay-per-view event from the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

Rosario went down three times in the fight, but it was the final knockdown that created a lot of confusion.

Charlo landed a stiff jab right to center of the stomach of Rosario, which sent him down on his back. Rosario appeared to be having a seizure of sorts as he attempted to get up and the referee counted him out.

Rosario was dizzy and felt nauseous after the fight. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and released the same night after receiving a clean bill of health.

Local doctors advised him to rest for a period of 50 days.

After suffering a flash knockdown in the first, he was dropped hard from a left hook at the end of the sixth. Charlo was unable to follow-up as there was no time left in the round, but Rosario beat the count on unsteady legs and wobbled back to his corner.

Rosario explained that at the time of the knockout he was still recovering from the shot that he took in the sixth.

"Actually the punch that came [in the eight] did not have the strength of the other [in the sixth]. What happened was that I was already coming out there after receiving that punch that I took in the sixth round, from which I did not recover. My respect for Charlo, he is a great champion. I will continue to move forward," Rosario told Franklin Nunez.
