A press gathering was held on Wednesday, where former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal announced the formation of his own promotional company, Jean Pascal Promotions. He also officially announced a two fight agreement where his brand new company will co-promote his next two fights with Canada's two leading promotional outfits, Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) and InterBox.

Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KOs), 31-years-old, became a free agent in January after outpointing Canadian rival Lucian Bute. His promotional agreement with longtime promoter Yvon Michel had expired and he received numerous offers from a who's who of promotional players.

Pascal's good friend, Canadian boxer Antonin Decarie, has come on board as Director of Operations for Jean Pascal Promotions.

"I wanted to be my own boss, Pascal said. "They made me a great offer and I am pleased to join these two businessmen who have proven themselves in the field of boxing in Quebec. Rome was not built in a day. As president, I want to go step by step. Since the beginning of my career, everything I touched turned into gold. I hope this will also be the case this time."

Both Michel and Jean Bedard of InterBox are excited with the deal and hope the three company partnership will expand the reach of Canadian boxing.

"With Jean Pascal Promotions, the goal is not to divide the pie into smaller pieces, but to make it grow. We will be more competitive with this partnership," Michel said.
