Returning to the Autonomous Municipality of Juncos, Universal Promotions and DIRECTV are preparing to present a card on Saturday, March 16, at the Rafael G. Amalbert Coliseum, where world ranked contender Jayson "La Maravilla" Velez ( 27-5-1, 19KO's) will fight for the WBA Fedelatin super featherweight (130 pounds) belt against former world champion Victor "Vikingo" Terrazas (38-5-2, 21KO's).

"Once again we return to Juncos with a world-class billboard," said Universal Promotions President Javier Bustillo.

"There will be three championship matches, with the main course of Jayson (Vélez) and Terrazas. A victory by Jayson over former champion Terrazas will virtually assure him of the world title opportunity. We are preparing for a Puerto Rico duel against Mexico, which will undoubtedly be a great bell-to-bell battle."

After an excellent 2018, achieving huge victories over former world champions Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez and Orlando "El Fenómeno" Cruz, Velez will seek to start 2019 with a resounding victory over Terrazas.

"The conditioning has been excellent for this fight with the help of Millo (Emilio Lozada), who accepted the challenge of preparing me," said Vélez.

"Terrazas is a dangerous opponent who was world champion. We have made the adjustments to improve the technical area that was what we needed. We know how important this fight is and that a victory brings us closer to fulfilling that dream of becoming a world champion.

" First I have to go over Terrazas, but I know I'm ready to face Tevin Farmer (IBF champion), Miguel Berchelt (WBC champion) and obviously WBA champions Andrew Cancio and Gervonta Davis, who is the best in the division. "

Terrazas, a native of Guadalajara, won the WBC super bantamweight belt in 2013 by beating Christian Mijares by decision. In his history, he's had fights against Fernando Montiel, Leo Santa Cruz and Joseph Diaz.

In the co-main event, Humacaeño Alberto "Transformer" Mercado (15-2-1, 3KO's) will rise to the ring to defend his WBC regional belt against experienced Mexican boxer Sergio "Micky" López (22-13- 1, 15KO's).

In another stellar match, the sensational lightweight prospect (135 pounds) Nestor Bravo (15-0, 11KO's), will fight for his first championship in professional boxing, this when he takes on the Pennsylvania-based Rolando Chinea (15-2-1, 6KO's).

"Everyone who knows me knows how seriously I work," said Bravo. "I come well prepared in search of my first championship and ready to offer a great show to all the fans."
