Welterweight contender Jaron Ennis (28-0, 26 KOs) is looking to secure the biggest fights possible in 2022.

Ennis had a banner year in 2021 - with a sixth round stoppage of former world champion Sergey Lipinets in April and then wiped out Thomas Dulorme in one round in October.

Ennis' performances have prompted some observers to begin comparisons to great fighters of the past.

“I’ve got my own style, but people always say like Roy Jones, Pernell Whittaker mixed together. Some say Roy and Floyd.  Now I’m starting to hear Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. There’s a lot of different combinations people are putting together," Ennis told The Sun.

“They’re great names - but I feel like I got my own style, my own swag in the fight game. A lot of these guys don’t do it like me.”

Ennis has even received praise from some of the biggest names in boxing, five division world champion Floyd Mayweather.

“I appreciate all the love and recognition Floyd gave me.  When he was talking about me in the interview, I appreciate it, and it gave me more motivation to keep grinding to the top," Ennis said.

At the moment, Ennis is actively looking for a big name opponent to push his career forward.

He views former welterweight world champion Keith Thurman as a very good option.

Thurman has been out of the ring for some time, with his last fight taking place back in July of 2019 - when he suffered a twelve round decision loss to Manny Pacquiao.

“I feel like Keith Thurman is a good name for me, because he’s been in there with everybody.  So if I can’t get them world champions or the No1 spot, I feel like Keith Thurman would be a great name to beat.  He’s been world champion and beat top guys," Ennis said.
