Jared Anderson sported a chef’s outfit with the promise of cooking up another masterpiece.

The unbeaten heavyweight prospect didn’t disappoint, extending his perfect knockout-to-win mark in the pros after stopping Jeremiah Karpency inside of two rounds. Anderson floored Karpency twice, the latter ending the fight at 0:34 of round two Saturday evening on ESPN+ in front of a sold-out crowd at Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The fight marked the first for Anderson outside of the Las Vegas Bubble since prior to the pandemic, having racked up five straight knockouts at the MGM Grand Conference Center. The 21-year-old Toledo native did not disappoint fighting in front of fans, offering a measured approach versus the fleshy Karpency before opening up his attack.

Karpency was able to move around the ring and avoid his opponent’s power until a subtle adjustment by Anderson, placing his left foot outside of Karpency’s southpaw stance. The move led to a well-placed right hand body shot which sent Karpency to the canvas, with the West Virginia native barely beating the count and making it to the bell.

The fight wouldn’t last much longer than that.

A similar sequence produced a knockdown early in round two. It was another right hand to send Karpency (16-3-1, 6KOs) to the canvas, this time producing the end of the contest.

“I saw it at the weigh-in. All respect to him for coming to fight but I knew he was looking for a soft place on the canvas to fall,” Anderson told ESPN’s Bernardo Osuna following the knockout, improving to 9-0 (9KOs).

Karpency falls to 16-3-1 (6KOs) with the loss. The 30-year-old journeyman has suffered knockouts in all three career defeats.

The bout served as the headliner of a seven-fight preliminary undercard on ESPN+. The show precedes an ESPN telecast, headlined by the vacant WBO light heavyweight title fight between Joe Smith Jr. (26-3, 21KOs) and Maxim Vlasov (45-3, 26KOs).
