NEW YORK – Jared Anderson got hit more than expected Saturday night, but he still produced the impressive knockout virtually everyone expected.

The 6-feet-4, 240-pound Anderson, of Toledo, Ohio, dropped Oleksandr Teslenko with a right hand that led to a second-round stoppage on the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Richard Commey undercard at Madison Square Garden. Teslenko got up after Anderson floored him with a right hand, but referee Danny Schiavone still stopped their scheduled eight-rounder 1:33 into the second round.

The 22-year-old Anderson (11-0, 11 KOs) has knocked out each of his past three opponents in the second round. Ukraine’s Teslenko (17-2, 13 KOs) was stopped inside the distance for the second time.

Anderson, a frequent sparring partner of WBC champion Tyson Fury, called himself “the next great heavyweight” after another quick knockout.

Anderson and Teslenko traded right hands about 1:15 into the second round, but Anderson abruptly ended their fight several seconds later. A right hand that Teslenko partially blocked sent Teslenko crashing to the canvas.

He got up before Schiavone counted to 10, but Schiavone didn’t like the way he looked and waved an end to the fight.

Teslenko landed a right hand less than 30 seconds into the opening round, but Anderson, who fought out of a southpaw stance throughout the first round, fired right back with a right hook. Anderson landed a right hook that got Teslenko’s attention during the middle minute of the first round.

A right-left combination by Anderson backed Teslenko into the ropes with 20 seconds to go in the first round. Anderson also unloaded a four-punch combination that backed Teslenko into the ropes just before the first round concluded.
