Janibek Alimkhanuly hates wasting his time. And unless you have a middleweight world title wrapped around your waist, he views fighters who are deprived of that distinction as inconsequential.

Under normal circumstances, Vincenzo Gualtieri wouldn’t be on the radar of Alimkhanuly. However, thanks to his upset win over Esquiva Falcao earlier this year, the 30-year-old was an unambiguous world champion. That title, nevertheless, was taken from him this past Saturday night against Alimkhanuly.

In no way, shape, or form is the Kazakhstan star interested in facing an up-and-comer or a highly-ranked contender. Instead, he views Jermall Charlo and Erislandy Lara as his only viable options. Reason being is a simple one, they both hold world titles and haven't shown any signs of letting them go without a fight.

“Who will agree to fight with me, Lara or Charlo?” Questioned Alimkhanuly on his social media account recently. “Or will they both find an excuse not to fight?”

Making audacious call-outs isn’t likely to get Alimkhanuly anywhere. According to reports, Erislandy Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs) will defend his WBA crown against Danny Garcia in December, officially ending his year-and-a-half layoff. As for Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs), he’s also spent a protracted amount of time sequestered on the sidelines. But, as reported by BoxingScene.com, he’ll shake off two and a half years' worth of cobwebs when he takes on Jose Benavidez Jr. on November 25th.

Facing anyone other than himself is a head-scratcher for Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs). From his point of view, once a fighter grabs a world title, a certain obligation is placed upon his shoulders. Number one would be to face whoever else is in possession of one of those golden trinkets.

“A champion must fight a champion! I want all the titles in my division.”
