A few weeks ago, it was announced that Tommy Fury had pulled out of his December 18th showdown against Jake Paul. The fight was slated to headline a Showtime pay-per-view event that is taking place in Tampa, Florida.

Fury withdrew from the fight with a reported rib injury and a chest infection.

There isn’t much love lost between the two and Paul has stated that he isn’t interested in giving Fury another opportunity in the near future.

Stepping in for Fury will be Tyron Woodley, who Paul defeated by split decision in his most recent bout in August.

After the close loss, the former UFC champion immediately campaigned for a rematch. He was turned down at first but now will have a shot at redemption.

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Paul-Fury fight because Fury would have been Paul’s first opponent who is a full fledged boxer. Paul’s previous 3 opponents all made their professional debuts against him.

Fury is unbeaten in 7 professional fights but Paul’s trainer BJ Flores believes this rematch will be much more challenging.

“I think it’s a much tougher fight than Tommy. Kudos to Tyron. He was training and ready when the call came in. This time we will finish the job,” Flores told BoxingScene.com.

In the co-feature fight unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano will face 135 pound title holder Miriam Gutierrez. Three-time NBA star Deron Williams will take on former NFL running back Frank Gore in a 4 round heavyweight bout and junior welterweight contender Liam Paro takes on Yomar Alamo in a 10 round 140 pound showdown to round out the pay-per-view undercard.
